BOJ Kuroda says Asia's economic downturn moderate vs other regions – Reuters

· Views 376

Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda said on Wednesday that Asia's economic conditions remain severe but the downturn in growth has been moderate compared with that of other regions,

"From a longer-term perspective, Asia must address its challenges in order to achieve sustainable economic growth. The key to achieving this goal is to work toward realising an inclusive, green, and digital economy."

Kuroda was speaking a virtual meeting of the US National Association for Business Economics, reported by Reuters.

Market implications

There was no impact from Kuroda's words on the markets.

Meanwhile, the markets are in risk-off following developments in the US Congressional disputes between the GOP and Democrats who are nowhere close to being aligned on a financial stimulus rescue package.

US President Donald Trumps has called an end to the discussions until the US election.

The US stock market fell by over 1% which is also weighing on the Nikkie, down 0.5% in the opening hour of trade.

I was glad to hear of Kuroda's statement - sometimes we gotta hold on to every positive news we get in a sea of not so good ones, eh?🤔

-THE END-
