微軟（Microsoft）18日宣佈以687億美元現金收購動視暴雪，在遊戲界投下震撼彈，同時也躍升為世界第3大遊戲公司，緊隨行業巨頭騰訊和索尼。微軟此舉有望充實旗下Xbox遊戲豐富度，並將獲得《魔獸世界》、《暗黑破壞神》、《Candy Crush》、《決勝時刻》、《鬥陣特攻》等知名遊戲的經營權。
與此同時，預計微軟本次收購行動將大幅提升其在手遊、電腦遊戲、遊戲主機、雲端遊戲以及元宇宙的發展速度。近年來，微軟Microsoft積極發展遊戲開發的軟實力，在2020年時就曾以75億美元（約新台幣2,100億元）收購《德軍總部》系列遊戲開發商Bethesda的母公司ZeniMax Media。
