#英前首相称英国已不是世界一流大国#【英国前首相：我们已不是世界一流大国，要接受事实】英国《每日邮报》11月10日报道，曾经在撒切尔内阁相继出任英国外交大臣、财政大臣，并于1990年至1997年出任英国首相的政治家约翰·梅杰爵士昨晚（9日）在伦敦发表了一场演讲。
在演讲中，梅杰坦言：“我们（英国）不再是一个强国，也不会再这样（成为强国）了。”梅杰表示，在未来的半个世纪里，英国仍是第二梯队中顶尖的国家。但无论表现得多么优异，受制于狭小地域和人口规模，英国很可能被其他大一些的国家所超越。
梅杰批评说：“由于我们夸夸其谈、大吵大闹、风险不断、顽固不化，我们在贸易中获得的利润将更微薄，国库将更空虚、就业机会将更少，未来将不再繁荣。
