基本面上，虽然公布的美国12月份消费者价格指数(CPI)数据年度总体通胀率加速至3.4%，高于预期的3.2%，和前值的3.1%。但剔除波动较大的食品和石油价格的核心CPI为3.9%，低于之前发布的4.0%。月度整体通胀和核心通胀增长0.3%表现持平。所以，通胀数据小幅上涨对美联储3月份降息的押注影响微乎其微。而限制了金价的回落动力。
不过，美联储政策制定者继续倾向于在较长时期内保持限制性立场，上周美联储会议纪要暗示仍有加息的可能，也将延长高利率环境的周期，否认提前降息的可能性。
另外，包括最近中东冲突的升级、商品价格可能出现飙升推高通货膨胀、高债务和高借款成本可能导致的金融压力、贸易分裂、气候相关的灾害，以及亚洲大国增长低于预期。这些都将可能推动美元和黄金共同上涨。可能会在短期继续令金价维持震荡格局发展。
