在指标运用过程中，投资者经常产生困惑，有时指标严重超买，股价却继续上涨，有时指标在超卖区钝化十几周，股价仍未 止跌企稳 。这里混淆了指标与股价的关系，指标不能决定股价涨跌，股价才决定指标的运行，股价是因，指标是果，由因可推出果，由果来溯因是本末倒置，不一定走得通。那么，指标运用的真谛是什么呢？笔者认为趋势至上，顺势而为，向市场屈服。在涨跌趋势未改变之前，不要试图去运用指标的超买、超卖、钝化等来盲目断定该反弹、该回调了，要向市场屈服、向趋势屈服，趋势无招胜指标有招。当然，这并非是完全摒弃了指标，相反是充分地利用其辅助参考作用，当 股价趋势 继续上涨或下跌时，指标也将继续超买或超卖，而当股价一旦发生转势，指标随后也会发生转势买卖信号，从而为操作提供强有力的技术上的参考，这就是指标运用的真谛。
