其实，芒格的人生，并不是少年得志。在35岁见到巴菲特之前，也只不过是一个在地方上有点小名气的律师而已，即使巴菲特多次鼓动他搞投资，他依然是等了6年，等到自己凭借房地产行业积累了足够的资金，才正式脱离律师行业。
芒格认为，人生重要的机会不用多，有一两次就够了，所以不用着急。
芒格说：“明智的人能耐心等待，让时间流逝，体会其中的妙处。大多数人总是瞎忙活。”
芒格认为，上面说的这些，其实都很容易做到，而世人不愿意做，是因为总想去做那些难的事情。
芒格认为，我们之所以能成功，不是因为我们善于解决难题，而是因为我们善于远离难题。我们只是找简单的事做。我们赚钱，靠的是记住浅显的，而不是掌握深奥的。我们从来不去试图成为非常聪明的人，而是持续地试图别变成蠢货，久而久之，我们这种人便能获得非常大的优势。。
