Our new year class of young aspiring traders bravely and humbly stepped up to the challenge of this question, followed by a timeline exercise that I set them to review PEAKS & VALLEYS of their own rollercoaster ride of the past year of 2020.
Results are still coming in, but a few traders have already impressed me with their proactive willingness to go all in and engage deep reflective insights of achievements, magic moments & challenges/lessons.
There are plenty of benefits to looking back over your shoulder - in life or trading; to improve self-awareness, celebrate wins, learn from past mistakes and build more resilience strategies.
Many choose NOT to recall 2020, and we can all likely understand why, given the grief and shock of all that happened. But inevitably we must refocus onto the map of our desired future and let go of the blocks from the past.
Neuroscience research highlights the majority of our daily thoughts are negatively charged, literally re-wiring pain patterns into our brain. Put simply, we are blindly driving our mind's motor vehicle (car), while looking out of the rearview mirror.
