《明心宝鉴》里有一段话：心安茅屋稳，性定菜根香。世事静方见，人情淡始长。身要安，性要定，当然首要心安。“天听寂无音，苍苍何处寻？非高亦非远，都只在人心”。心若不安，人就永远不会有“稳”的感觉；而心中的欲望太强，就永远无法过那种即使咀嚼菜根也能津津有味的生活。只有心安性定的人，才能安心于朴素宁静的生活，才能充分享受平和简静的潇洒从容。
