在北京，外交部回应英国及法国批评中国处理疫情方式的不满。发言人赵立坚说，新型肺炎疫情在全球蔓延，这个时候人命关天，救人要紧，各国当务之急是团结抗疫，讨论制度优劣、搞模式之争，无补于事。赵立坚又说，疫情爆发后，中法元首已经三次通话，中英领导人与外长，亦多次就抗疫合作通电话，中方愿意与英国、法国在内的国际社会，坚持多边主义，加强国际合作，共同维护全人类的身体健康与生命安全。英国外相蓝韬文早前说，疫情结束后，英中关係不可能与以往一样，法国总统马克龙亦认为，中国处理疫情透明度不足。
