智通财经APP获悉，9月22日，微软公司 (NASDAQ:MSFT) 宣布，公司推出Azure通信服务来与Twilio Inc (NYSE:TWLO) 竞争，这些功能允许开发者在他们的应用程序中添加语音和视频通话、聊天和文本消息。
微软还表示，它提供了一套额外的智能服务，开发者可以利用这些服务来构建他们的通信服务，例如，包括它的翻译工具。与类似服务一样，开发人员通过一组新的API和SDK访问各种功能。
据报道，与亚马逊网络服务的地面站相比，微软还推出了Azure Orbital卫星数据处理平台。
技术总监Mark Russinovich表示，微软实质上是在建造一个“卫星地面站”。有很多收集卫星图像的客户希望在此基础上利用云服务以及物联网方面的服务。轨道合作伙伴KSAT和SES将分别提供额外的卫星连接和通信服务。
据悉，Azure云平台是微软业务中日益重要的一部分，尽管其增速正在放缓。在四季度财报中，Azure的营收年增长率为50%，低于第三季度的61%。
