What I Just Learned About “Good” Stats in Copy Trading

When I first started forex copy trading, I used to pick traders the way I pick clothes online: I saw a big ROI, a 90% win rate, lots of followers and just hit “copy” without thinking. This month I finally learned that “good stats” aren’t about who wins the most, but who manages risk the best. Now I always check max drawdown (how bad it gets when things go wrong), the risk-to-reward ratio (are they risking $100 just to make $10?), the equity curve (smooth and steady vs. flat and then a crazy spike that screams martingale), and how consistent the results are over several months, not just one lucky streak. For me, a good trader to copy is not the one who shouts “I win a lot”, but the one whose stats quietly say “I don’t blow up” – and that simple mindset shift has already made my copy trading journey feel a lot safer.
