Impor Tiongkok atas konsentrat tembaga Australia turun 34% menjadi 26.717 ton pada bulan November, level terendah sejak Januari 2017, menurut data yang dirilis oleh Administrasi Umum Kepabeanan. Impor turun karena pemerintah Tiongkok menginstruksikan perusahaan-perusahaan untuk tidak membeli bijih tembaga dan konsentrat dari Australia karena hubungan kedua negara memburuk.
Tembaga adalah salah satu ekspor utama Australia bersama dengan bijih besi dan emas. Dengan demikian, penurunan ekspor ke Tiongkok, importir komoditas terbesar dunia, dan ekonomi terbesar kedua, bisa disebut perkembangan bearish untuk AUD.
