12月17日1时59分，嫦娥五号返回器携带月球样品在内蒙古四子王旗预定区域安全着陆，标志着我国首次地外天体采样返回任务圆满完成。
这也是人类时隔44年再次从月球带回月壤，标志着我国探月工程“绕、落、回”三步走收官之战取得了圆满胜利。
历经23天，嫦娥五号闯过地月转移、近月制动、环月飞行、月面着陆、自动采样、月面起飞、月轨交会对接、再入返回等难关，创下多个“首次”。
