More Than Trade: Followme the First Global Trader Conference 2019

Followme the First Global Trader Conference 2019 was successfully held last Saturday in Shenzhen, China.

293 Followme users has witnessed the historical moment of the launch of Followme 5.0, an upgraded version of the social trading community aiming to better connect forex traders in the world.

Attendants were fully engaged in the event, be it the lottery drawing section or the long but never tedious speeches presented by professionals of different aspects in forex.

The first keynote speaker was Steven. In his opinion, the major reasons why 95% of traders lose is that they hold the wrong idea that one-step wrong, everything is wrong; one step unachieved, everything is useless. After 16-year experience in forex trading, Steven came to promote the algorithmic strategy, which consists of data sources, data, model, execution and monitor. He considers algorithmic trading very reliable for it is automatic, simple, and risk-controllable. Yet it’s not almighty so traders should be aware of its downside as well.

Next presenter is Ron William, who flew from London to present theme speech “Trading Strategies & Opportunities in 2020”. Ron guided us to a lookback of the history of major currency pairs as well as crude oil and gold. He believes that by looking back can we foresee the future. The tide of history is the best teacher we have. 

Followme CRO Will Pan introduced to audience a powerful data-analysis tool-FollowQuant, which would be very useful to both brokers of micro to medium size and traders and capital management institution. The quantitative strategy is a big market that offers a huge opportunity for both traders and developers.

Then Sheng Zhu from ShenHui Technology talked about Hedge Transaction in Algo Model Combination. In his opinion, traders can decide the best portfolio model by leveraging three factors: currencies, directions, leverage. He considers optimized combination the key to having a bigger ratio of wining. To observe the currency correlations, traders would have a clearer picture of the trend and decide the best combination. There hasn’t been an equation to figure out an optimal solution to this model yet. That’s how it presents an opportunity ahead.

The last speech was presented by Xu Zhou, the champion of “I AM A TRADER” contest Season Two. He shared experience of trading strategy, capital management and trading psychology. Strategies are the foundation of a trading system. To begin with, traders should set an objective, then understand what are factors that might affect achieving this objective, and finally develop strategies accordingly. He thinks capital management should be consistent with trading strategy and it’s decided by risk tolerance. When it comes to trading psychology, he considers accepting wins and losses the first step, though psychology is the most complex part. 

The last section of this event is panel discussion-What the Future Holds for Professionals. Guests all agreed that some common mistakes beginners make are not accepting the losses, or following someone blindly. When they suffered losses, they tended to pause for a few days, and they picked up again after they adjusted themselves. Most of the guests consider trading notes very important. Some of them are keen on manual trading while the others consider algorithmic trading the future. No matter what leads the trend of professionals, the foundation philosophy will next change. Professionals should keep renewing the knowledge base to better adapt to the ever-changing market. 

What brought us together was not just the money-making voice we might hear every single day, but more of the idea that we can learn together, help each other, and hopefully profit together.
