The U.S. Energy Department reported that the latest crude-oil stockpiles dropped 4.1 million barrels (vs a reduction of 2.928 million barrels expected) to 435.6 million barrels.
U.S. crude oil inventories are about 7% below the five year average for this time of year.
U.S. crude oil production decreased to 11.2 million barrels a day from 11.4 million barrels a day.
