國際奧委會主席巴赫表示，冬季運動博覽在新型肺炎疫情大流行期間舉行，令外界增添信心。他在北京舉行的國際服務貿易交易會專題項目冬季運動博覽會開幕式上發表視頻講話。巴赫表示，由於疫情大流行程度前所未見，現時人類仍生活在不明朗，疫情影響生活每方面，今屆冬運博覽在冬奧主辦城市北京舉行，時間性顯得特別重要。巴赫強調，各體育項目已準備好疫後重建。今屆冬運博覽將於綫上與綫下同步舉行，來自中國及海外20個國家及地區的500個體育運動品牌，將展示各種冬季運動產品及服務。
