Britain's foreign minister pledged Monday to rapidly again engage with Beijing after the 20-year jail term for Hong Kong democracy media mogul Jimmy Lai, whose case has prompted Western leaders to call for his release.
"Following today's sentencing we will rapidly engage further on Mr Lai's case," said a statement from Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper.
"We stand with the people of Hong Kong," she added.
