European indexes trade mixed as losses for defense and energy companies counter gains for luxury and tech stocks.
In the Netherlands, the tech-dominated AEX index advances 1.3% as semiconductor stocks jump after positive results for Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company.
ASM International is up 11%, while BE Semiconductor gains 7.6%. Madrid's IBEX 35 slips 0.35%, dragged down by a 6% loss for oil major Repsol. French CAC 40 inches up 0.1% as faltering defense firms--including Thales, down 3%--cancel out a rally in luxury stocks.
The German DAX trades down 0.07% after the index broke an 11-day winning streak Wednesday. Milan's FTSE MIB climbs 0.25% as banks rally, while the U.K. FTSE 100 is flat.
Miners and house-builders fall while financials gain in the country, with Schroders up 7.2% after a positive update.
