New York, Dec 1, 2025 (AFP)
Wall Street stocks declined early Monday, giving back a fraction of the prior week's gains as markets look ahead to key US economic releases.
While markets have worried over lofty artificial intelligence stock valuations, those concerns have been offset by hopes that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates.
"We're a little soft entering the new month, coming off a pretty good reversal for November," said Art Hogan of B. Riley Wealth Management.
Near 1550 GMT, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.7 percent at 47,380.25.
The broad-based S&P 500 fell 0.4 percent to 6,824.18, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 0.4 percent to 23,269.13.
This week's calendar includes reports on personal consumption pricing -- a key reading on inflation -- as well as initial data on the start of the holiday shopping season.
Futures markets overwhelmingly expect the Fed to cut interest rates on December 10.
