The sharemarket closed at a record high on Tuesday, led by the materials sector after Australia and the US agreed to invest a combined $US3 billion ($4.6 billion) in critical minerals projects.
The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 Index finished up 0.7 per cent, or 62.8 points, at 9094.7, a fresh peak, after resetting its intraday record of 9115.2 earlier in the session. The rally was buoyed by a 1.7 per cent rally in the miners, with nine out of the 11 sectors trading higher.
