Industrial production in Romania fell by 1.1% year-on-year in August 2025, reversing a 2.3% increase in the previous month. The downturn was mainly driven by decreases in output of both the mining and quarrying (-2.3% vs 1% in July) and the manufacturing sector (-1.6% vs 3.1%). On the other hand, production recovered for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (1.7% vs -2.3%). On a monthly basis, industrial activity dropped by 2% in August, the steepest decline since February, slipping further from a 0.3% loss in the preceding period.
