Romania's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate edged up to 5.9% in August 2025 from July’s seven-month low of 5.8%. The number of unemployed persons increased by 9.8 thousand from a month earlier to 481 thousand. The jobless rate for men rose to 6.2% from 6% in the previous month, while that for women remained unchanged at 5.5%. In August 2024, the jobless rate was lower at 5.7%.
