Investing - Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Public Utilities and Electric Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.91% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica, which rose 4.12% or 0.17 points to trade at 4.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Raia Drogasil SA added 3.92% or 0.69 points to end at 18.30 and Localiza Rent a Car SA was up 3.73% or 1.46 points to 40.59 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Braskem SA, which fell 2.38% or 0.20 points to trade at 8.20 at the close. Lojas Renner SA declined 2.15% or 0.35 points to end at 15.92 and Raizen SA Preferred was down 1.68% or 0.02 points to 1.17.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 496 to 471 and 62 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.45% to 25.85.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.59% or 22.20 to $3,797.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.14% or 1.33 to hit $63.61 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 4.19% or 15.40 to trade at $351.95 .
USD/BRL was down 0.98% to 5.28, while EUR/BRL fell 0.87% to 6.24.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 96.86. (AI)
