Industrial production in Mauritius grew by 1.7% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2025, slowing from a seven-quarter high of 2.6% in the previous period. The downturn was mainly due to a decline in the output of mining and quarrying (-2.4% vs 2.2% in Q1). Additionally, production growth moderated in the manufacturing sector (1.5% vs 1.8%) and electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (5.4% vs 8.9%). On the other hand, activity accelerated for water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation (1% vs 0.1%). On a quarterly basis, industrial output increased by 5% in Q2 2025, rebounding from an 18.3% drop in the preceding period.
