Taiwan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 3.35% in August 2025 from a twenty-four year low of 3.33% in the previous month. The latest figure marked the highest reading since April, as the number of unemployed persons increased by 3,000 to 403,000, while employment grew by 3,000 to 11.631 million. The youth unemployment rate - which tracks job seekers aged 20 to 24 - jumped to an eleven-month high of 12.08%, up from 11.91% in the previous month. Meanwhile, the labor force participation rate went up to 59.58% in August, the highest level since 1990, compared to 59.51% in the preceding period.
