Hungary’s gross wage rose by 9% year-on-year to HUF 693,700 in July 2025, slowing from a 9.7% increase in the previous month. The moderation in wage growth was primarily driven by softer rises in both the private (8.7% vs 9.7% in June) and non-profit sectors (9.1% vs 10.7%). On the other hand, wages increased further for the public sector (10% vs 9.5%). Without the impact of one-off payments and bonuses, July’s wages were 8.5% higher than in the same period a year ago at HUF 656,600. Considering the January to July period, average gross wages went up by 9.1%.
