Moldova Trade Gap Widens in July

Moldova’s trade deficit widened to USD 558.1 million in July 2025 from USD 503.5 million in the same month last year. Exports advanced 21.8% year-on-year to USD 347 million, supported by increased sales to EU countries (41.1%), while exports fell to other countries (-17.9%) and CIS countries (-6.8%). Meanwhile, imports also rose by 14.8% to USD 905.1 million, driven by higher purchases from EU countries (21%) and other countries (11.4%), while arrivals from CIS countries (-30.4%) fell. For the first seven months of the year, the country’s trade gap increased to USD 4,074.5 million from USD 3,039.2 million in the corresponding period of the previous year.
