Azerbaijan’s economy expanded by 1% year-on-year in January-August, edging higher from a 0.9% growth in January-July but easing from a 4.3% rise in the same period last year. The non-oil and gas sector rose by 2.6%, while the oil and gas sector fell by 2.1%. On the production side, the main contributors to the GDP growth were industry (34.9%), trade and vehicle repair (10.3%), transportation and warehousing (7.1%), agriculture, forestry, and fishing (6.3%), and construction (6.3%).
