Turkey Retail Sales Growth Eases to 3-Month Low

Retail sales in Turkey grew by 13% year-on-year in July 2025, slowing from an upwardly revised 15% gain in the previous month. This marked the slowest growth since April, as sales moderated for food, beverages, and tobacco in specialized stores (16% vs 16.6% in June), information and communication equipment (16.7% vs 25.1%), cultural and recreation goods (11.8% vs 20.1%), other household equipment (7.1% vs 9.4%), other goods (17% vs 26.2%), sales via stalls and markets (1.7% vs 11%), and trade not in stores, stalls, or markets (6.1% vs 7.3%). Meanwhile, sales jumped for automotive fuel in specialized stores (8.9% vs 4.4%) and sales in non-specialized stores (13.6% vs 8.4%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail activity fell by 0.2% in July 2025, slipping from a 1.3% gain in the previous month.
