Romania’s annual inflation rate accelerated to 9.85% in August 2025 from 7.84% in July, marking the highest level since June 2023. This was driven by higher prices across all main groups, namely food (8.92% vs 7.67% in July), non-food products (10.48% vs 8.18%), and services (9.85% vs 7.33%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 2.10% in August, easing slightly from a 2.68% rise in the previous month.
