Argentina Inflation Rises Below Estimates

Consumer prices in Argentina rose 1.9% month-on-month in August 2025, rebounding further from the lowest monthly inflation rate since May 2020 of 1.5% recorded in May and below market expectations for a 2% increase. Prices accelerated for transportation (3.6% vs. 2.8% in July), education (2.5% vs. 1.9%), housing and utilities (2.7% vs. 1.5%) and health (1.7% vs. 1.1%). Meanwhile, prices slowed for food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.4% vs. 1.9%), restaurants and hotels (1.9% vs. 2.8%) and communications (1.9% vs. 2.3%). Clothing and footwear saw a smaller decline (-0.3% vs. -0.9%). On a year-on-year basis, consumer prices rose 33.6%, marking the disinflation trend and the smallest increase since July 2018, down from 36.6% in July.
