Mexico Auto Exports Rise Again, But Pace Slows

Mexico’s car exports rose by 1.4% year-on-year to 296,796 units in August 2025, following a 7.9% advance in the prior month. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, but the slowest in the current streak. Shipments grew significantly for BMW Group (+34.9% vs 7,989), Nissan (+34.4% to 37,549), Stellantis (+28.6% to 37,736), Ford Motor (+22.6% to 37,778) and Audi (+21.6% to 15,266), but declined sharply for Mercedes-Benz Group (-33.8% to 2,838), Honda (-24.6% to 15,064), Volkswagen (-18.7% to 28,502) and General Motors (-14.2% to 64,062). Year-to-date, auto exports fell around 1% to 2.25 million units. The US accounted for 79% of Mexico's vehicle shipments in the first eight months of the year, with 1.78 million units.
