Car sales in Indonesia dropped 19% year-on-year to 61,780 units in August 2025, following a downwardly revised 18.0% fall in the previous month, according to the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO). This marked the fourth consecutive monthly decline amid weakening purchasing power. Despite the downturn, GAIKINDO still projects 2025 car sales to reach 750,000–900,000 units, slightly above the 2024 estimate of 850,000 units, though it acknowledged the target may be revised lower due to a first-half sales slump. However, on a monthly basis, sales rose by 1.5%.
