Mauritius’s annual inflation decelerated for the second month in August 2025, hitting 4.8%, compared to July's 5.2%. Prices slowed down primarily for food & non-alcoholic beverages (2.8% vs 4.5% in July); furnishings & household equipment (4.5% vs 5.7%) and miscellaneous goods & services (2.4% vs 2.7%). Conversely, the biggest increases were seen for insurance and finance services (13.2%, the same as in July); restaurants & hotels (12.2% vs 10.7%); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (9.5% vs 9.7%) and health (8.1%, the same as in July). On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged down by 0.1% in August, after being flat in the previous month.
