ECB Vice President Luis de Guindos said that inflation may be lower than the ECB's previous forecast:
• Recent inflation figures mainly brought positive surprises.
• ECB's monetary policy has played a role in curbing inflation.
• The growth outlook for the Eurozone has deteriorated recently, possibly even lower than the 0.8% forecast in December 2023.
Mr. de Guindos' statements are said to pave the way for interest rate cuts, which could take place in April or June this year. In addition, he also alluded to the possibility of reduced inflationary pressures and weak growth - two key factors to begin the process of loosening monetary policy in the coming months.
