At 4.00 am ET Friday, Germany's ifo business confidence survey results are due. The business confidence index is seen at 90.0 in December versus 90.7 in November.
The euro appreciated against its major rivals before the data.
The euro was worth 126.81 against the yen, 1.0847 against the franc, 0.9045 against the pound and 1.2255 against the greenback at 3:55 am ET.
