“封锁”下的经济衰退令全球债务违约率飙升
评级公司预计，更多的公司以寻求不良债务交换或大幅折扣回购来克服流动性问题。这类举措尽管不像拖欠还款那样严重，而且可能不为普通投资大众所知，但通常会给债权人带来损失，评级公司通常会将其计入违约。
穆迪投资者服务公司预计，在疫情和低油价的双重负面影响下，陷入困境的公司总数将会增加，这将进一步导致上述做法的激增。
此外，鉴于疫情和前所未有的封锁政策，国际货币基金组织预测，此次经济衰退或将是最近一个世纪以来最严重的。如果以史为鉴，这意味着公司违约行为将大幅增加。
在全球金融危机期间，此类行为曾一度暴增，而近年来，此类事件一直居高不下，这是因为借款人在过去10年的低息贷款中积累了大量的债务，现在难以解决。根据穆迪3月份的数据，公司违约总额占比从2008年之前的10%左右飙升至2008年之后的40%左右。
