在交易中，买空指资产或证券的价格高于可用基本面因素解释的价格。
当资产的投机性购买行为推动价格高于预计的市场价值时，通常会发生买空现象，此时市场很有可能进行调整，价格会下跌。
买空的对立面被称为卖空。
