买入期权是期权外汇买卖术语。买方买入一种权利，根据这种权利，可以在协定的将来某一天以预订的协议价买入一种外汇，同时卖出另一种外汇。买方买入这种权利后须于交易后第二天工作日向交易对方银行支付一笔期权费用，除此之外，无须承担任何义务。
卖出期权是买入期权的对称。期权的卖方，把一种权利卖给对方，对方有权利根据协议价在期权到期日，从卖方买进某种外汇。卖方由于卖出了期权，因此，可收到一笔买方支付的期权费用。
