Indeks Nikkei 225 di Bursa Efek Tokyo, Jepang, terjun 622,77 poin, atau sekitar 2,19%, pada Selasa (5/10/2021), menjadi 27.822,12. Indeks Topix juga melemah, merosot 1,33% menjadi 1.947,75.
Seperti diwartakan Reuters, indeks Nikkei turun ke level terendah dalam sebulan terakhir setelah tajamnya peningkatan harga minyak dunia mencuatkan kekhawatiran inflasi dan pengetatan kebijakan moneter secara global. Nilai tukar dolar Amerika Serikat menguat 0,25% terhadap yen menjadi 111,19 yen per dolar AS.
Rencana Perdana Menteri Jepang yang baru Fumio Kishida untuk meningkatkan pajak keuntungan modal juga ditanggapi negatif para investor. Saham perusahaan ritel Fast Retailing terjun 6,9% setelah pemilik brand pakaian Uniqlo tersebut melaporkan penurunan penjualan sebesar 19,1% pada September.
Saham perusahaan internet Z Holdings dan perusahaan manufaktur komponen elektronik Murata Manufacturing masing-masing anjlok 5,6% dan 3,4%. Saham SoftBank Group merosot 3,8% dipicu kekhawatiran nilai investasi perusahaan konglomerat tersebut di sektor teknologi.
