The global foreign exchange broker FXCM stated that an "unauthorized person" broke into its database and copied the content of the company's conversations with customers, after which its system in Israel was partially hacked.

The news was first reported by the Israeli financial and commercial institution Globes, which confirmed on Sunday that FXCM was the victim of the cyber incident.

FXCM explained: According to the internal investigation so far, as far as we know, there is no danger to the customer's funds, bank account details or account login password. The broker also confirmed that no accounts were stolen during the malicious attack, and further stated that its trading platform was operating as usual.

Depending on the extent of the attack, internal investigations will determine the affected customers one by one and notify them one by one.

According to FXCM’s announcement, “In the morning, the company realized that an unauthorized person had broken into the company’s computer database and copied information from it, including records of conversations between customers and company representatives.”

According to reports, as in similar data theft cases, the other party did not ask for any ransom for information, and the identity of the attacker is not yet known. Since such access may endanger the security of customers’ sensitive information, the company has reported this threat to Israeli authorities.

FXCM CEO Brendan Callan told Finance Magnates that the company is checking the source of the hacking and the scope of the leaked information. He further explained that FXCM will inform affected customers of the personal data obtained by hackers.

FXCM also notified Israel's financial regulator, the Securities Regulatory Authority (ISA), which required FXCM to provide all information to determine the severity of the incident. The regulator said it is cooperating with the national cybersecurity agency to check possible risks and await further instructions.

This is another security issue that occurred in Israeli cyberspace. Recently, hackers have used servers to steal all kinds of information, including important information about Israel's water infrastructure.
