古代一位富商，为躲避时局动荡，将家产悉数变卖为银票，藏在一把油纸伞的伞柄中。
结果，回老家途中，在凉亭休息，打了个盹儿，丢失了雨伞。
面对突如其来的变故，富商先检查了随身的行囊，发现除了雨伞其它并没有丢失，于是断定应该不是被惯偷盗去，而是被附近的人顺走了。
富商便留在了当地，做起修理雨伞的买卖。
两年过去，那把雨伞迟迟没有出现。
他思考一番，做了一个“以旧伞换新伞 ，不收一文钱”的招牌，立在门前。
络绎不绝的人拿着雨伞前来，富商终于在人群中发现了那把油纸伞，于是不动声色为那人换了新雨伞，带着旧雨伞归乡而去。
人走了不少弯路之后才有所醒悟：遇到变故时，再怨天尤人、暴跳如雷都没用，还容易让人慌不择路，病急乱投医。
反而是那些，遇到事情不慌不忙、沉得住气的人，越容易从千头万绪中理出思路，凡事总能找到办法圆满解决。
