对于中国股市不能做空，不能T+0，但黄金是存在做空手段的。也就是说，我们可以同时利用黄金的上涨和下跌来获取利润，规避长线的“买入持有”策略所带来的风险。国内投资者可以通过黄金期货、上海黄金交易所黄金T+D现货和纸黄金等方式来进行黄金投资或交易，通过中短线交易来规避长期趋势风险，或者用中短线空头来对冲长线持有的实物黄金。除此之外，天通金目前也是大部份投资者所认可的一种黄金投资手段，其无涨跌停限制、24小时连续行情和T+0双向即时成交等交易机制，既完善了黄金期货和黄金T+D现货交易时间短、行情不连续的局限性，也弥补了实物黄金和纸黄金不能做空、无法通过保证金交易提高资金利用效率的缺点。
