兰特在周一升至三周高位，此前两家评等机构在周末确认了南非的投资级评等，且有媒体报导称，祖玛将面对执政党执委会的不信任投票。
但执政的非国大党周二重申了对祖玛的支持。
一位分析师称，市场没有消化祖玛离职的可能性，所以兰特走势可能会完全受制于国内政治。
美元得到意外强于预期的美国第三季国内生产总值(gdp)数据提振上涨，新兴市场货币下跌。
