周五(10月14日)亚市盘中，泰铢兑美元一度大涨1.6%至35.056美元，创下2013年9月以来最大涨幅。
泰国皇室周四声明称，泰国国王普密蓬·阿杜德(bhumibol adulyadej)去世，享年88岁。他是世界上在位最久的君主。
泰国政府已经暗示，其唯一的儿子将继承王位，并呼吁全国30天内不举行任何喜庆活动。
日本经济研究中心(japan center for economic research)特聘研究员hideki hayashi称，基于媒体的报道，过渡时期可能比之前预期更顺利，这有助于短期支持泰铢等泰国资产。
hayashi指出，在泰国政治分裂的社会中，泰王普密蓬长久以来一直被视为团结的力量，因此眼前有不确定因素；可能对长期政治、经济和市场前景有影响。
普密蓬在位70年间，泰国共发生了10次政变，而他一直都是国家团结的象征。
美元/泰铢最新下跌1.2%至35.20。上日泰铢收盘价为35.55。
泰国王室发布声明称，当地时间周四15:52，国王在曼谷siriraj医院过世。自2014年以来，普密蓬便在该院接受治疗。
普密蓬患病多年，近年来在公开场合鲜有露面，大部分时间都在医院度过。
泰国总理巴育(prayuth chan-ocha)随后表示，国王此前已经根据宪法指定了继承人。现年64岁的泰国王储玛哈·哇集拉隆功(maha vajiralongkorn)是明显的王位继承人。
在国王逝世的消息宣布后，聚集在siriraj医院门前的数千名泰国民众落下眼泪。许多人手持国王相片，身穿粉色服饰为其祈福。
一些风险分析师及外交人士表示，国王的去世虽令国内很多人悲痛欲绝，但不大可能对泰国经济产生严重的不利影响。
