Yesterday, and as expected, the Bank of England raised its benchmark rate by 25 basis points to 1.25%, a fifth consecutive hike. It pointed out it "will be particularly alert to indications of more persistent inflationary pressures, and will if necessary act forcefully in response". But GBP remains under pressure.
