The American Petroleum Institute (API) reported that U.S. crude oil stockpiles dropped 879,000 barrels for the week ending July 30, higher than the expected decrease of 2.9 million barrels.
Later today, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) will release the official oil inventories for the same period, with an expected decline of 3.102 million barrels.
