The last edition of the General Orders was published in 1957 .Various administrative directives have been issued from time to time since then ,

Persons holding non - pensionable posts - Vacation leave H49 Persons holding posts specifically in Annual Estimates under ' Personal Emoluments other than Fixed Establishment ' prior to 1st January ,1962, may be granted following the introduction of the existing Guilledaud leave conditions on 1 st January,1962,one last period of long leave of 84 days,on conclusion of a tour of three years i . e . in accordance with the pre - Guilledaud conditions but thereafter shall be entitled to only 14 :-

PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION

H33 Special leave not exceeding twelve (12) working days in any calender year may be granted on full salary in the following instances --- (a) to enable a Master of a Secondary School who is an officer in the Secondary Schols Cadet Corps to attend the Annual Training Camp ; (b) to enable a public servant who is selected by the proper authorities to represent Guyana or the West Indies in interterritorial or international sports or cultural events ; (c) to enable a public servant who has been selected as a delegate to attend conferences of recognised associations; (d) to enable a public servant holding certain offices in recognised Staff Associations and Trade Unions catering for Government employees to attend emergency meetings or to assist in setting disputes etc ., as laid down in rule H38.

H36 Special leave not exceeding seven (7) days mayalso be granted inexceptional circumstances to a public servant to enable him to attend to urgent and unforeseeable private affairs . Such special leave is intended to be seperate and distinct from annual leave and provided such special leave is necessitated by "as stated, request by public servants for leave under this sub -section should not be refused for the reason that they have annual leave to their credit .

PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION

Approval of long vacation leave H29 Leave may be apperoved by the Permanent Secretary orr Principal Assistant Secretary of the Ministry in which the public servant is serving and in the case of a department ( not under Ministerial control ) by the official Head or deputy Head of Department . In the case of Permanent Secretaries of Ministries and Heads of Departments not under Miniserial cotrol leave will be approved by the Permanent Secretary,Public Service Ministry.

PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION

H25 Where a Public Servant on retirement will not be returning to guyana he will be permitted to use , up to the financial limit of the passage assistance appplicable in his case as prescribed from time to time to provide passage(s) for himself , his wife , and their unmarried children under the age of 18 years subject to the approva of the Permanent Secretary , Public Service Ministry having first been obtained .
