美国大选，一部分投资者押注大选结果不会拖得很久才出炉，这会导致快速达成更多财政刺激措施协议。从而导致美股周二大幅收高，道琼斯工业指数收高554.98点，或2.06%，报27480.03点；标普500指数收高58.92点，或1.78%，报3369.16点；纳斯达克指数收高202.96点，或1.85%，报11160.57点。
还有一部分投资者对于大选的不确定性，促使投资者寻求在黄金终避险。现货金上涨0.7%，至每盎司1907.96美元。美国黄金期货结算价上涨0.9%，至每盎司1910.40美元。
美国大选，一般来说，在大选日的次日凌晨，总统选举的结果就会出炉。今年11月3日是大选日，所以在美国东部时间11月4日凌晨(北京时间11月4日下午)，就能知道本次大选的初步结果。
但是，由于今年疫情的原因，邮寄投票被广泛使用，这就产生了一些很大的变数。(数据显示，今年美国将有超过40%的选民使用邮寄投票，远高于2016年的15%。)
