Pasardana.id - Produksi mobil Inggris mencapai level terendah dalam 67 tahun terakhir pada 2022, turun 10 persen year-on-year.

Penurunan produksi menyebabkan ekspor mobil merosot 14 persen.

Menurut laporan yang dirilis Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), Kamis (26/1/2023), seperti dilansir BBC News, penurunan produksi yang terjadi tak terlepas dari terhambatnya pasokan mikrochip.

Selain itu, penurunan yang terjadi juga disebabkan penutupan pabrik Honda di Swindon pada Juli 2021 dan terhentinya produksi Vauxhall Astras di Ellesmere Port sejak April 2022.

Produksi mobil Inggris diharapkan dapat kembali melampaui 1 juta unit per tahun pada 2025. Namun untuk mencapainya, diperlukan investasi besar-besaran dan masuknya perusahaan otomotif baru ke negara tersebut.

Produksi mobil elektrik mencapai rekor pada 2022. Sepertiga produksi mobil di Inggris tahun lalu adalah mobil elektrik maupun hybrid.
